THE father of struggling pop star Britney Spears yesterday pleaded for his "sick little girl" to be left alone.

"We're just trying to take care of her,'' Jamie Spears said in a US television interview.

As Spears remained in the Promises Treatment Centre in Malibu, California yesterday - her third attempt at rehab in just over a week - her manager released a statement denying reports she had attempted suicide as "absolutely untrue''.

"She is in rehab, and it is very disappointing that various media outlets are running these false stories about her, as Britney tries to get better,'' he said.

Jamie Spears, who has also been in rehab, said rumours his daughter was battling drug or alcohol addiction were wrong.

The website x17 has posted photos and a video of the troubled bald-headed pop star battering the snapper's vehicle with an umbrella before stomping off.

Britney went bald on her own accord, says a hairdresser from the beauty salon in the San Fernando Valley near Los Angeles where Britney "just went crazy and took the shaver and began shaving off her own hair, screaming hysterically about how she was tired of everyone touching her!", the hairdresser said on national TV this morning.

Our photographers say she was crying in the car for ten minutes before she went inside -- you can even see wet tear stains on her sweatshirt. She then went inside and did the deed herself -- picking up the shears and shaving her head.

Well, We’ve all seen Britney doing some pretty outrageous things in 06 but what’s in the cards for her in 07? Hopefully for her sake and her kids she will get her act together and find some new friends. That would be a good start for the New Year anyways. Paris Hilton seems to go through friends like they are disposable diapers. Perhaps Britney will learn that whoever claims to be your friend one day will turn on you the next and treat you like dirt. I’m not blaming Paris for Britney’s problems because she’s a big girl now and is responsible for her own actions but Paris seems to be at least a bad influence just the same. It’s sad to see these young girls ruining their lives before they have hardly even started…
